Please join the Truman National Security Project and the Make US Strong campaign for the launch of Dr. Rachel Kleinfeld and Drew Sloan’s new book, Let There Be Light: Electrifying the Developing World with Markets and Distributed Energy. The launch will be held on Thursday, February 2 at 7:00 pm at George Washington University’s Elliot School of International Affairs.

Dr. Rachel Kleinfeld, CEO and founder of the Truman National Security Project, and Drew Sloan, Truman Fellow and Client Solutions Associate at OPOWER, will discuss how creating distributed, renewable energy will kick-start development, protect the environment, and stabilize developing nations before they become threats to our national security. The authors argue that the best way to overcome the challenges of distributed energy is through the power of the market. Everyone, including venture capitalists, the military, and social entrepreneurs have an important role to play in making the world well lit and safe.

Following the discussion, Truman Partner and Make US Strong Spokesperson, Janessa Goldbeck will provide a Cycle for Security Tour update before launching her 4,200 mile bicycle tour across America to protect international development.

The event is proudly sponsored by the Roosevelt Institute’s GW Chapter, the GW STAND chapter, and the Organization for International Development. Please see below for additional details.
