This Tuesday, as part of the Make US Strong campaign, San Diego native Janessa Goldbeck will kick off her Cycle for Security Tour by holding a press availability in San Diego. An international development expert who will join the Marine Corps in June, Janessa will be able to discuss her 4,200 mile solo bicycle ride from San Diego to Washington, DC. She will also talk about her message that a robust budget for international development—sometimes called “foreign aid”—is vital to America’s long-term security and prosperity. Development has been a key part of America’s security since the Greatest Generation rebuilt Europe and Japan at the end of World War II. From February until May, Janessa will bicycle from coast to coast, making dozens of stops along the way to speak with students, legislators and development organizations about how American greatness relies on international development.
