photo-10 My “unofficial” ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles begins today, and I am as excited as I am nervous. There’s a lot of gear on my bike – a little more than 30 lbs – which is more than I actually need for this trip but approximately what I’ll be carrying across the country. Train like you fight, fight like you train, as they say.

It’s a hilly ride, so I’m looking forward to getting my butt kicked a little over the next few days. Stay tuned for distraught tweets as I push over the mountains around Santa Cruz and Big Sur National Park.

The event on Wednesday night was amazing; I couldn’t be more grateful to the generous folks at Rally for hosting us in their incredible space, to National Field and New Leaders Council – San Francisco for co-sponsoring, to all the Truman folks who turned out, and to my friends who have made me feel at home in this city.
